Examples of Incremental Changes Commits

In this article, we will go over some use cases when committing and deploying picklist value assignments on record types, record type assignments, page layout assignments, lightning page assignments and tab and VF page visibility.

Picklist Value Assignments on Record Types

With Copado you can commit and deploy picklist values standard picklist fields, custom picklist fields and custom picklist fields with Global Value Set. Check out the article How to Commit and Deploy Picklist Value Assignments on Record Types to learn how to do this.

Page Layout Assignments

You can commit and deploy page layout assignments with or without record types. For more information about how to do this, check out the article How to commit and deploy Layout Assignments with Copado.

Lightning Page (Flexi Page) Assignments (e.g. New Opportunity Page)

  • Select the FlexiPage metadata type and select New_Opportunity_Page.

  • Select the RecordType metadata type and select Opportunity.New_Opportunity_Record_Type.

  • Select the CustomApplication metadata type and select the app to which you have assigned this page, standard__Sales in this example.

  • Select the Profile metadata type and select the profile to which you want to assign the page, for instance Admin.

Note: If the Lightning Page and Record Type already exist in the destination environment and you do not want to deploy changes in these components, they need to be marked as Selected and Retrieve Only.

Record Type Assignment in Profiles (e.g. Account Record Type for Solution Manager)

  • Select the Profile metadata type and select SolutionManager.

  • Select the RecordType metadata type and select Account.New_Account_Record_Type.

Note: If the Record Type already exists in the destination environment and you do not want to deploy changes in this component, it needs to be marked as Selected and Retrieve Only.

Tab Visibility in Profiles (e.g. New Object CustomTab for Custom: Marketing Profile)

  • Select the Profile metadata type and select Custom%3A Marketing.

  • Select the CustomTab metadata type and select the relevant custom tab name. In this case we have created a user story commit custom tab, New_Object__c.

Note: If the tab already exists in the destination environment and you do not want to deploy changes in this component, it needs to be marked as Selected and Retrieve Only.

VF Page Visibility in Profiles (e.g. New VF Page for System Admin)

  • Select the Profile metadata type and select Admin.

  • Select the ApexPage metadata type and select the relevant page name. In this case, we have used a new custom VF page, New_VF_Page.

Note: If the VF page already exists in the destination environment and you do not want to deploy changes in this component, it needs to be marked as Selected and Retrieve Only.
