Data Deployment Error: FIELD_CUSTOM_VALIDATION_EXCEPTION: <object> references field <field>, which does not exist. Please check your spelling.

When doing a data deployment, Salesforce may return the following error:

“FIELD_CUSTOM_VALIDATION_EXCEPTION:SBQQ__PriceCondition__c [a0V1I012340UvmAUAS] references field EditLinesFieldSetName__c, which does not exist. Please check your spelling.”

When deploying records that reference custom conditions and triggers that are active, the records associated with these custom condition values must be deployed before the records that reference them.

To fix this issue, try the options below:
  1. Temporarily disable the triggers in the destination org before deploying the data template. Copado recommends this solution for Salesforce CPQ deployments.
  2. A more general advice is to check that a new validation rule or trigger is valid for your existing data before adding it to your destination org. Alternatively, for the purpose of the deployment, you may choose to filter and exclude the record(s) that give the error.
